Overview

The Wolf Tribute model has a neck-through the body configuration. The body wings are an 11-layer “hippie sandwich” with a purpleheart core and alternating purple-heart and curly maple accenting veneers. The top and back are cut from AAAAA quilted maple. The iconic wolf inlay featured on the lower part of the body. The wolf inlay is composed as follows: The snout and eyebrows are brass, his face ebony, eyes South American yellow-heart, teeth are a synthetic ivory substitute which is compliant with the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (ESA; 16 U.S.C. § 1531 et seq.), and his extended tongue is holly dyed a deep red. The bridge we currently use is an improved reproduction of the original Schaller harmonica bridge, made by Kluson, with a body is milled from one solid piece of steel and saddles milled from brass. The tail-piece is laser cut stainless steel and the coi fish designs are inlaid w/ blue abalone.
The neck comes with a standard asymmetrical profile . Custom profiles are available on request. I use Graph Tech Ratio locking tuners. All Wolf models come standard with a 16 in. radius Gabon ebony fretboard, with special synthetic ivory inlays and sterling silver fret markers. The fret boards are bound with a custom purfling. The headstock face plate is Gabon ebony and bound w/ the same binding as the fretboard. On the reverse of the headstock there are 6 alternating veneers of curly maple and purpleheart . The rear overlay extends a tongue near the 1st fret for extra reinforcement in what is a traditionally weak area.
All the electronics are high quality military spec. All Wolf guitars come standard with an internal F/X loop, and depending on the model, and come standard with a Spud buffer. The finish is a slightly tinted, high gloss nitro lacquer made by Cardinal.
I offer the Wolf Tribute in 2 pick-up configurations:
  • The ’73- early ’77 model w/3 single coils (D. Allen Voodoo ’69) and a Stratoblaster.
  • The ’78 model w/ brass triple ring w/ 2 Dimarzio Dual sound humbuckers and a Dimarzio Dp111, single coil w/ OBEL (on board effects loop) and Waldo unity gain buffer.
I can install an optional din plug for those who want to swap triple rings for different configurations. The wolf comes standard with Dunlop strap locks but, I can use your brand upon request.
MIDI pickups are also available.
Due to demand and availability of materials (principally cocobolo and Gabon ebony), please call for current pricing. Supplies of mammoth ivory are in question due to recent updates to the provisions outlined in The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
The Wolf guitar ranges in price from $7500 (bare bones) to $10,000 (full boat) . The Private label Calton custom case is available for $1400. I require 1/3 of the total price down to start, another $1500 when hardware and electronics are ready for installation, and the rest when approaching completion.
The electronics cost will be greater if MIDI is added.
